Manifesto
In this series of wearable garments “No Soy UNA, Soy TODAS”, I explore as a woman the duality of inhabiting two cultures – Mexican and American. A daughter of immigrants and first generation I depict the dichotomy of my heritage by combining garments and traditional weaving. A manipulation of traditional processes and material I begin to resist Mexico traditional notions that used to be macho-dominant and now empowering the complexities of womanhood by embracing different identities. Through my perspective, the choice of color palette varies from vibrant colors that are influenced from being in Mexico while the pure black reflects the times being in the United States. This reflects my personal journey, culture values, and complexities of womanhood in both countries.
